Waralungku Arts (pronounced Wharr Ral Loonghu) is an indigenous art centre located in the remote town of Borroloola. NT. It is not-for-profit, and fully owned and governed by Mabunji Aboriginal Resource Indigenous Corporation.
Waralungku Arts represents artists the from four main language groups – Yanyuwa, Garrwa, Marra and Gudanji.
Waralungku artists are producing vibrant contemporary work which reflects history and tradition, but also speaks of current issues and concerns for Aboriginal people of today.
The leading Borroloola artists explore a range of themes in their work including the life and the history of the community, wider political views and environmental concerns and also (very often) simply the distinctive beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Waralungku Arts ensures Fair Trade practices for all their artists – you can be assured that you are making an ethical purchase in buying directly from the art centre.
Seventy percent of the purchase price goes directly the artist, whilst the remaining thirty percent is used to support art centre operations.
Waralungku Artists work in a wide range of mediums – contemporary painting, printmaking, sculpture, jewellery and traditional craft items.

Mabunji Aboriginal Resource Indigenous Corporation (“Mabunji”) began its life as a resource centre in 1983, with its core purpose to support the Aboriginal people and homelands of the Borroloola region. 35 years later, Mabunji still to this day remains true to its original purpose and represents the Saltwater and the Mainland people of the various town camps and homelands. It has matured and adapted to the changing needs of its members, government policy, funding conditions and commercial opportunities.
Today, Mabunji is a financially strong corporation, with a dedicated and progressive Board of Directors. Over the last 20 years, Mabunji has grown its net assets to facilitate the purchase of land, construct new buildings, make new business investments, and continue to provide expanded and new services to the community. Mabunji has been very successful at delivering contract services under these funding arrangements in its core areas of aged care, municipal services and childcare.
In 2015, Mabunji became incorporated under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 as a large corporation.
The Board of Mabunji has identified the need to formalise the corporation’s strategic direction and establish an investment strategy to take the organisation into the future. The development of these two critical strategic documents will establish a responsible and credible pathway for Mabunji to follow as it strives to achieve its goals under the guidance of current and future generations of the Saltwater and Mainland people.
